VRWMA supports our members to follow the principles of the 5R’s:
Thank you to the JPRISM 2 project for facilitating the establishment of the VRWMA and for supporting this website. JPRISM is a project funded by JICA.
Several Vanuatu companies that are members of the VRWMA encourage reuse. Tusker, for example, has for many years been re-using their glass bottles for beer and cascade water.
RecycleCorp is Vanautu’s recycler. They take scrap metal including, copper, brass, aluminium and steel. End of life cars and lead acid batteries are death with by RecycleCorp. They have recently started a paid-for-service for recycling tins, cans and glass bottles for businesses and residential customers.
Refill stations are being more popular in Vanuatu. VRWMA member Pacific Suppliers has refill station for their cleaning products in store and in Bio-Influence in town.
Repurposing is using a product that has fulfilled its original purpose for another use and the extending the useful life of that product. For example Switi icecream containers are very well known as great tupperware alternatives, often dubbed Switi-ware. Crushing glass bottles to sand for construction is another example of repurposing. This is done in Vanautu by RecycleCorp.
